I hadn't realized that BLUE BEETLE was underperforming so spectacularly. (Although I knew I, VAMPIRE was faring poorly, and BEETLE is doing worse looking at CBR's list:

I think this proves the major weakness in the lack of forethought in DC's reboot: they are just retelling the stories that we already know to those of us who already know them. Demand was low for the new Blue Beetle before, and now they've just undermined what little success they previously had by treating the characters's existing fans as irrelevant.
I don't think there's any significant evidence that they've picked up genuinely new readers -- empirically demonstrated in my locality -- and they have alienated many of their old ones. This isn't just me griping personally, but stems also from me talking to my LCS owners. They are concerned that they aren't seeing new faces, and 1/4 of a year later, they are already reverting to previous sales numbers for the same old titles: Batman, Superman, Green Lantern.
