so I am a gamer, albeit a casual one, and as a comic fan and a DC fan specifically, I'm fairly excited for this game (though I can't get it until Wednesday when I get my comics due to a blizzard and a crappy local Wal-Mart that never gets anything on its release date)
has anyone played this yet? and if so, is it worth getting? I plan to get it anyway to just play in the world, but I want to know if I would be throwing my money away or not.
ah, who am I kidding, I'll get it, I'll try to like it, and if its good I'll keep playing, and if its bad I'll just go back to WoW (which is funny since a few of my characters are named in part after Booster Gold)

what I have seen so far has not impressed me very much, though if there is a way to try it for free before one has to buy it I'll give it a shoot.

The game retails for $50 and includes an initial 30-day subscription. Each month afterwards will cost $15.00.
I personally gave up on MMOs years ago (after City of Villains) and only want to play DC Universe Online to meet Booster Gold and assorted other DCU characters. I have no interest in paying a monthly subscription fee, but $50 for a month of play (40 hours?) might be worth it.

50$? Seems like you are getting ripped of a bit in the US. But due the bad exchange rates (from the American viewpoint) there is no point in importing it from the Euro-zone or the UK.
On the other hand...Booster would most likely approve of this anyway *g*

I've actually played the Beta and loved it. I will probably get the game until Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out this fall.

I was thinking about getting it, I'm not too happy about the 15 dollars per month. Also I heard they took some characters out of the game. Originally it was reported that both Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond), and Blue Beetle either Ted, or Jaime were going to be in the game yet to my knowledge they were not featured.

Thanks to the generosity of an old friend, I have now played a bit of DCUO, and I think it's ok. It reminds me a lot of DC HEROES, but on a larger scale. It is made for consoles, so it lacks a bit of expected control of a PC game. Despite my distaste for MMOs, most of the real people in the game don't act to differently than the AI. (I suppose that's either praise of AI or an insult to players, you decide.)
I have to say that it is kind of fun to interact with the JLA. And Booster Gold sure does say his own name a lot. He's very satisfying.
I give a mild thumbs up.

I think I would have been less satisfied with the game if I would have had to pay for it, but mainly because it just isn't my sort of game. You certainly get your money's worth for environment: it's really, really big.
FYI: Booster does namedrop Rip Hunter on the exploration quests. Booster also shills for Soder-Cola, Big Belly Burger, and Bibbo's, in addition to his ubiquitous Flakies advertisements. I never heard Booster mention Skeets, although according to articles that I have read online Skeets appears on "repair stations" in some dungeon instances.
Best Booster Gold quote: "Booster Gold is no expert on reservoirs."

I did see one video where a "dungeon" was shown in which Booster as well as Skeets show up.
Booster is somehow mindcontrolled by..uh..someone and the players have to free him, while Skeets tells them how..more or less. Though does not really seem keen on the help. "If you really want to free Booster Gold, you don't have to, honestly, you need to destroy those generators"
