ok this is somewhat misleading as the 100 don't really appear except for footage of a dying man's will, but in Secret Six #30 a slacker 21 year-old gets an inheritance of $3 billion left to him by his grandfather, as well as a particle cannon. It turns out his grandfather had at one time been a founding member of the 100 (seen in a flash-back panel). the kid (Eric) gathers his friends together to form their own criminal group called C.R.U.S.H. (Companions Recently United to Spread Hate) and hires the Secret Six (9 members currently, but screw math this is comics) to invade Oolong Island, the current home of the Doom Patrol and every mad scientist in the DCU since 52. the story ends in the next Doom Patrol issue, so its fairly easy to jump onto without knowing much backstory.

I know Booster isn't even mentioned in this, but the 100 (then the 1000) played a large role in the first volume and I don't think the 100 or the 1000 have showed up much since then. if nothing else it is a fantastically written story, and well worth picking up if you haven't been reading Secret Six. (and if you don't read Secret Six, what is wrong with you?)

I will second a vote for SECRET SIX. Anything Gail Simone writes is worth reading. Her character-building is exceptional.

Doom Patrol is ending soon so it's not a good time to jump on. i didn't care for the series as a whole, it was a lot of tying up loose ends from old Doom Patrol series that I never read (Danny the Street?)
