First part of the Winick interview. BTW has Max ever been shown as a physical fighter? Besides hitting people when their turned around? I can't recall him ever hitting anyone on panel.

I don't remember him as a fighter either, but he has been shown with a much more trained body since joining checkmate (compared to his JLI days). And while it might be rational to assume that he as some combat training, but nothing that would stand up to even rather weak heroes (without his mind-powers or other help). Though he might simply use equipment (ala Luthor and his power suits) to face the JLI in a fight. I would not be suprised if we see him using something OMAC & Scarab-related..on the other hand should the fight only consist out of Booster kicking Max's arse for several pages..I would not complain..not at all.

I wasn't sure if I missed something. Yeah, at most Max seems to be fighting by using the tools around him and his powers. Like he's done against Bea, Jaime and Booster. Somehow he copied the tech from Boosters' belt to recreate it for himself, so that should be the biggest thing to overcome next to his powers.

EDIT: Part 2 is up. I haven't read it yet so I'm not sure if it spoils anything for this issue.

Part 2 does contain some spoiler material, so I'd advise caution. (Probably best not to read it until after you've read JL:GL #22.)

It also gives away Maxs' fate, which I was surprised to see.

Yeah, I don't think that was a big surprise, but I suppose that he did. The door was still left open to a lot of possibilities.
