What did everyone think of this issue?

I liked how Jaime shined in this issue and how he was able to free himself with the scarabs' help. I don't believe he's dead but I'm really looking forward to the next issue to see more of Boosters' reaction and the reason for Max going bad.

This is a small and very silly thing to pick up, but the thing that really stuck out at me was that I really don't care for the art on Booster in the reaction shot. All four of the others look like they just saw something that either caught them off guard or horrified them, but somehow, the art on Booster makes him look sort of slack-jawed and staring into space. not even shell-shocked, just... I dunno.

Jaime will live, because of the Scarab. It was able to restart his heart, it has healed every bone in his body within seconds...I think the scarab will actually kick in and save him...maybe even forcing Jaime to bond with it further, so the two can not separate.

I now believe that Max's master plan will be the create a new, self powering armor, which will use Kryptonian cells and their ability to utilize solar energy, the living reach tech, and the OMAC tech. This will allow him to turn himself into what he feels will be the ultimate superhero.

And Booster is going to punch him in the $^%& face till he sees Nekron.

The scarab can do that? Didn't Max say he studied it long enough to know it's weaknesses? The gun didn't look normal. I thought it looked more like a grazed shot. Teds' wound was, uh, much more messy. I think the tech has to do with his Omac plan, the one that ends up taking over in the future Cap went to.

I'm guessing that most of the next issue will be devoted to telling Maxs' story and 21 will focus more on what happens after Jaime is shot.

When Jaime took on Doctor Polaris, the scarab allowed his nervous system to shut down, to fool Polaris into leaving, then restarted Jaime's body.

At the end of his series, Jaime fell from space without the armor and broken almost every bone in his body, leaving him completely paralyzed. The scarab had to reboot, and when it did...I believe 15 days later, it let out what Jaime described as a 'scream' and healed everything within moments.

I am also pretty sure the armor is bullet proof. It can survive the pressures of space and full on assaults of nuclear origins.

As such, I think Max's gun was designed to get through the scarab's defenses...but didn't actually hurt the SCARAB. It will begin healing Jaime...and I wouldn't be surprised if it took control of Jaime's body while Jaime was dead and fought with the JLI.

Perhaps this will cause Jaime's body and the scarab to fully merge, resulting in the birth of the first Blue Scarab, whose descendants will inherit their armor from birth (As shown in Judd's future look)

one word describes the art in this, and that is inconsistent. I really enjoyed the story, but the art was just distracting.

right off, if you have the regular cover the ending of this is not a surprise, though I would say I'm not sure how, but I don't think Jaime is dead, as it would be too obvious given all of the heavy foreshadowing.

I loved the scarab's escape attempts and how it adjusted to Max's influence, I loved how the checkmate base was an underwater seahorse, and I loved how the JLI decided to forgo searching for a route and just blasted straight ahead through walls and everything. but like I said earlier, the art was just too distracting for me to enjoy it.

Without spoiling anything, all I know is that Judd better live up to his promise that we will see Booster punch Max many, many times before the end.

I personally have a vision in my head of what I want one of the final shots to be. It is inspired by a shot in 52...I want to see this scene:

We see the Justice League sitting around their table. They all blink as they suddenly remember Max Lord...and everything. They are in a panic, they begin to scramble, to go find him. Many other heroes are called in...echoing the beginning of the book...

All of a sudden, the door to the Hall of Justice is sent flying open. They all turn in shock.

Max lays on the ground, bleeding and beaten, restrained. The heroes can only stare.

We now see the entire JLI standing behind him, with looks of determination of triumph. Think of the shot of John Henry Irons standing on top of the LexCorp building after his battle with lex in 52. They are happy, but their faces are also hard, remembering how all these heroes did not listen to them.

Superman: How...

Booster: Don't worry. We took care of it.

At which point. the JLI turn on their heels and leave without a word.

I would be satisfied with that ending. I will be annoyed if BG and the JLI don't get their due. Please, no last minute glory hounding by one of the Batmen. I want the masses (or the 25 k or so that will buy the issue) cheering Booster delivering justice to the superevil and incredibly smug Max.

Also, enjoyed the Fan Fic, Chaos. I do not like those "write a story X words at a time threads", but would happily read threads with your (or others) work.

I agree with those who believe that jaime is not dead, for pretty much the same reasons..thoug I guess Booster will have another short term crisis like after the OMAC Project before getting it back together.

I was a bit surprised to see Power Girl leave right again, though I am not really complaining. Max should be taken down by those who were in it from the beginning and someone who joins in the last minute.

Solicits mentioned in the second paragraph.

It should be interesting to see how they build on the new Blue and Gold from here. Jaime and him have a rather odd relationship where they like each other well enough but aren't that close. Still after their bonding during Dead Ted this should be angsty.

If solicits are correct she'll be back with Batman (which one?) and another unnamed JLI member. But the final battle should just be these guys against Max. They earned it.
