No one would have to know it was Rip under the goggles. Just some kid. Can go by Booster instead of a name.... though, you are probably right.

Still, I don't see Booster being a great hero being something that can stay a secret. Look at how Winick is using him in JL:GL... the Micheal Carter will have to grow into something more or need to be set aside eventually (and I am thinking soon rather than later). Even in TM:VP, it became hard to listen to Hal continually mock Booster... Rip had to step in at one point.

In JLGL most of the characters think the JLI are crazy and his teammates have dismissed him in earlier issues. At present it seems iffy if Booster will get any credit from people outside the JLI/Bat circle for his efforts. Ice even makes a point in mentioning that he's the only one of them that could go home because he didn't blow his cover. If this group worked with the UN I could easily see them keeping a lid on it.

Still haven't gotten this issue since my LCS didn't have it but I saw this moment in the scans for TROBW. If it's written the same it just boggles the mind that Rip would reveal that. Even so a lot of heroes have been rather dense to point of apparent elistism over Booster that they don't seem willing to give him a chance. Cyborg, who's never worked closely with him lectured Booster despite him saving lives. His rep worked against him, same as when he fought the RFG at the end of 1 million where Ollie/Hal assumed he hired them. It's hard to shake that kind of mindframe. Dick Grayson is one of the nicest people in DCU but even he had to read Bruces' files before he could fully believe it.

I have to wonder what Flashpoint will mean towards Booster and his role. We know he is a major part...I have a feeling Dan and Geoff are working closely, and Booster will be appearing in all three titles (Flashpoint, Flash and of course Booster Gold). So Barry is going to know that Booster is heroic...that will mean that the Bat family and the Flashes will know the secret (which makes sense, since the Flashes also deal with time travel).

I'm interested in seeing how they do this too. (Not just to see how it'll affect my comic budget since I'm only getting Booster books.) Will Rip remain the guy in charge like TMVP or will Booster have to do most of the foot work? Neither Barry nor Zoom seem to think much of him at present. I'd rather have Superman in the know than Barry since Clark actually has a history with him.

You make great points Erin, and of course you are right that the framework is in place to continue the status quo without much strech. I just wonder at what point the routine will get old for the readers and what a creative team might do to change it up. Maybe it doesn't become an issue.

I am hoping that BG shares a good amount of the spotlight in Flashpoint, even if he has to continually work undercover. It occurs to me that I might also have to come to terms with Booster's decision to do the right thing because it is right and not for the glory.... weathering fan criticism of my favorite hero as stoicly as he endures an unjustified GL tongue lashing. :)

I am certainly pleased that BG is such an interesting character to consider and discuss.

Sadly status quo rarely seems to change in comics. So many characters keep their supporting cast in the dark about their heroic IDs. Even big changes like Spider-Man being married have been erased. I keep expecting some more people to get in the know about Booster. So far we have, Bruce, Dick, and Jaime. Will the JLI find out? I'd think that if a JLI book did happen that would become a factor.

Don't know about you but I'll be rooting for Guy in the Hal vs. Guy match. ;)

Right now, I would go out of my normal comic buying routine to get an issue of Gardner laying a smackdown on Jordan. I'd call it three bucks well spent. 8-)

Always one of my favorite panels from ACTION COMICS WEEKLY:

Who needs another reason to like Captain Atom?

Okay I offically love Cap. He was awesome enough in gen lost but this puts him over the top. The quip is just the icing.

But regardly of Jordan being a jerk to Booster I want Guy to win because he deserves it.

Ah thanks for the Panel, that made my day (and earned the Cap many points). Obviously I vote cheer for Guy too..but that is not very hard as I can't really think of any character I would wish a beating on even more than Hal...but also because Guy at least as a character..not a nice one but at least there is something.
