From the DC blog: http://www.dccomics.com/blog/2012/05/14 ... p-solicits

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #12
Written by DAN JURGENS
Art by AARON LOPRESTI and MATT RYAN
Cover by DAVID FINCH and RICHARD FRIEND
On sale AUGUST 1 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T • FINAL ISSUE
• It’s the funeral for ROCKET RED.
• Several members resign from the team – who will be left?

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL ANNUAL #1
Written by GEOFF JOHNS and DAN DIDIO
Art and cover by JASON FABOK
On sale AUGUST 29 • 48 pg, FC, $4.99 US • RATED T
• Will this issue be the final adventure ever for JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL?
• The true nature of O.M.A.C. revealed!
• Ties in to the shocking events of JUSTICE LEAGUE #12!
• Guest-starring BLUE BEETLE!

Notice this is the final issue of JLI. Dang, I know a lot of people had issues with this series, but I liked it.

So here is my baseless speculation on what happens. In the annual, Brother Eye is awakened and sends OMAC after the JLI. In the ensuing fight the JLI appears to die. Since Batman created Brother Eye, he and the Justice League get blamed, leading to the fight we saw in the Free Comic Book Day comic. And Steve Trevor masterminds the whole thing (I cannot be the only person getting serious Maxwell Lord vibes off that guy). And at some time later the JLI makes a surprise reappearance, having not actually died.

So JLI gets a ton of crossovers, an Annual and cancled, all at the same time? I have some hope that the title will simply gets rebooted, but I am worried that there will be a regular Booster title left after this fall.

:? What's going on? JLI's numbers aren't nearly low enough to warrant cancellation, so I'm going to agree with MetalWoman's theory about what's going to happen to the team.

So DC tears down their old house that John Byrne built and builds a Flash-y new one. Because the "New" house was built in a hurry and without any sort of oversight, within a year it has leaking pipes, peeling wallpaper, and cracks in the foundation. In short, it's uninhabitable. Quick, grab some 2x4s to prop it back up before the neighbors notice!

Whatever, DC. Just let me know Booster Gold's forwarding address once the dust clears from your never-ending renovations. I've got other things to pay attention to right now.

This is getting a it weird. Aren't Aquaman and Swamp Thing two of their most succesful titles right now? Based on comments it seems that the list of stopped subscriptions is even much longer. Revamping the Reboot?

Apparently filling subscriptions is expensive. It is possible that DC has just decided that since everyone can now get comics digitally, it is not worth it to support subscriptions on any comics, except their absolute best sellers.

Agreed that this is probably a cost-cutting measure. In the past, DC has rarely made their entire publishing line available for subscription. Maybe the company handling the subscriptions optimistically sold options for everything in the New 52, and now that they know what's profitable, they're trimming the fat.

I don't see anything sinister here, just two companies trying to turn a profit with a coincidental timeline.

Possible. Likely even. But (somewhat OT) I wonder if they've considered that in truth *not* everyone can get comics digitally. It's going to be interesting to see where this sort of business decision takes sales.

Mini interview with Dan Jurgens about the end of JLI.

http://comicbook.com/blog/2012/05/16/su ... rnational/

My assumption that Dan left on issue 12 because he was ready to leave was wrong. Turns out he was planning beyond 12, but was moved off the book onto something else. But the biggest tragedy of all, we were supposed to see Skeets in issue 13, and now that will never happen. Why world!! Why!!!
