Man, this version of the JLI cannot get a break.

On a good note, Geoff Johns is getting his hands on Booster again. Maybe his Time Master self will re-emerge.

Every thing that man says makes my blood boil. It's awfully considerate of DiDio to step in as co-writer and "clean up" Dan Jurgens story lines for him.

Seriously, I have to step away from the keyboard now.

I am surprised you have such a strong reaction to this, especially considering you have not been too fond of Dan Jurgens's JLI.

I imagine Dan Jurgens chose to end his JLI run with issue 12, and the annual sets the the new direction beginning with the 0 issues in September. Considering Jurgens has been getting higher profile work on Superman, that would be a good jumping off point for him.

There have been rumors of Keith Giffen taking over JLI. If he and Didio team up for JLI the way they did for OMAC, then I think it could work out really well. JLI could really use the mix of action and humor that OMAC had. Although I am a huge OMAC fanatic, so my opinion is biased.

I haven't heard any news that Jurgens is leaving JLI, he is leaving Superman though. Metal Woman, based on your recommendation I'll be checking out OMAC, thanks.

Boosterrific, I don't understand your dislike for Dan (Mass Murderer) DiDio, he says very nice things about you. As far as Jurgens not writing the JLI Annual, maybe he's too busy on other projects.

Actually, this Annual looks like it might have more to do with OMAC's story than the JLI's current story line, hence DiDio's involvement. Also, since the "hinted" story affects ALL Justice League books it makes sense that the writer of Justice League would be directly involved.

Just my 3 cents ;>

Although the words "FINAL FATE" do sound ominous...

@MetalWoman: Yes, I have my problems with Jurgens' latest JLI tales. However, I blame everything that's wrong with DC Comics, hell, everything that's wrong with the entire comic book industry on Dan DiDio. There is no one in the universe who I could be less pleased about writing a book I will be required to buy and read to maintain this site.

To be clear: I don't know the man personally, he might be a great guy. (I do, in fact , hear good things about him from other people.) I recognize that his job is to sell more comic books. (It appears to be a job that he's pretty good at.) I just don't like the way he does that job.

That "final fate" crack is a good example: it's simple emotionally bating hype for fanboys. I HATE THAT SORT OF PANDERING. I know from experience that it won't be as bad (or as good) as DiDio ever teases, but I don't appreciate that constant teasing. I'm buying your goddamn books already, lay off with the bullshit, DiDio! Sure, hype sells, but constant hype is fatiguing and counter-productive. DiDio doesn't seem to get that, and it really annoys me personally.

Just consider this another one of those things I'm irrational about. I love Booster Gold and I hate Dan DiDio. I never want the two to mix company.

Wasn't Didio blamed for the suppossed "curse of the JLI"?

I am worried about the "final fate of this incarnation" bit. While I do believe that this title needs a mix up when it comes to the characters AND creative team I am worried that this might mean getting Didio and losing Booster

Yes, DiDio publicly said he was opposed to the JLI, and several of the team's characters have been killed off under DiDio's watch. I'm not sure that DiDio was serious when he made his anti-JLI comments because I don't believe anything that he says.

I suspect that the JLI characters that have been killed were killed because they were being under-utilized and writers were looking for less popular heroes to kill off as a cliche demonstration of how villainous their villains were. Obviously, it is bad editorial practice to just keep killing off established characters because then you have to keep making new ones, but I don't think you'll find anyone not employed by DC who would say that DC editorial is doing a good job these days.

I guess the only people who would look forward to Didio writing JLI are the fans of his OMAC series (and there can't be too many of them considering how fast it got canned)

Edit:

Serious question..is there an actual danger of JLI being cancled or Booster kicked off the team?

JLI is selling way above the guessed at cancellation level of 20,000, so it would not be cancelled due to sales. However, decent selling books get canceled when either a) restarting will make a mediocre selling book into a top seller (see various Avengers/Justice League reboots for an example of that), b) the creative team could be better used elsewhere (Marvel's Nextwave), or c) the story has run its course (see James Robinson's Starman).

I doubt JLI is getting canceled, the description is probably the usual comic book solicitation exaggeration. But if it is, it will likely be case A, and be immediately relaunched.

As for Booster getting kicked off the team. Considering how popular he is the only reason I see them doing that is if he has a solo or other team book waiting for him, but you never know.
