With the openings for titles in the new 52, what can be done to convince DC that we need more Booster and Skeets? The new JLI is great, but where are Rip Hunter and Skeets? I think it would be cool if they made Booster the only character that had memory prior to flashpoint. Like if he had to come to terms with his inability to preserve the timestream and adapt to this new post flashpoint world.

I second this development. What's the big difference between a hero from the future and a hero from the future of an alternate (altered?) timeline.

I don't need Ted Kord to be the BB in the new 52, but I would like his history with BG preserved because that impacts the BG character.

I just think they really derailed what was growing into a promising property (BG) for not much gain and without a real need.

In retrospect, I think Booster would have been better on Stormwatch than JLI.

I have yet to see anything in Booster's relationship with the DCnU that specifically excludes the possibility that he remembers the past DCU.

The biggest problem with modern, decompressed storytelling (stories taking 6 issues instead of 2 or three) is that it destroys the opportunity for weaving multiple sub-plots into the background. In years past, Dan Jurgens was always very adept at weaving stories for each character in a book. I hope to see Jurgens work individual stories for all of the characters in the JLI, including hints that Booster has continued his continuity-policing in his "free" time.

Something just isn't working for me with these new books. The stories are coming across as both decompressed and shallow. The orignal run on BB (Jaime version) is basically the same story as the current run, but seemed to have plenty of time for character development in its decompressed form. The current one seems hectic and careens from one plot element to the next. At the same time, nothing ever seems to get done. Same with the JLA. Six issues or so to get the team together, but little time to build relationships between the team (that weren't already explicitly there pre New 52). Perhaps I am just being an anti-reboot grump, but even my six year old has stopped asking to read the new titles and instead requests to read BG vol2 issues 6 - 20 something. Am I making any sense?

Unfortunately, yes. After 30 years of collecting, DC has finally managed to do something that peer and economic pressure was always unable to achieve and make me stop buying comics. These new comics are simply not what I want to be reading.

I still love comic books, just not new comic books. In the past 5 months, I have spent far more money on old comics than new ones. I just don't find the contemporary style compelling. I am not going to pay $3 out of habit for something I don't even like.

I've stopped worrying about it, however. (I really do try not to be too negative about it online because I think the readers and fans of this site deserve better than a torrent of negativism. I probably don't succeed, but I try.) The pendulum will swing back to telling stories that I like reading. And I will simply spend my money on other things until that happens.

To be clear: I still like DC's intellectual properties and the concept of super-heroes. I just don't like their current crop of comic books.

I agree that I don't find the new 52 engaging in any way. I just hold on to hope that something good eventual has to happen. As a consumer however, I will not continue to spend my money on somthing that leaves me disapointed. But if the JLI started dropping hints that Booster is still maintaining the time stream on the side that would definately keep me buying.
