The column will go live on Monday at Comic Related (like and comment; I love to hear what you guys have to say), but for the time being I've got a sneak preview of it posted here: http://ggwarrior.blogspot.com/2011/04/g ... oster.html

Among other things, it includes DeMatteis spilling what his "perfect" ending for the run was (which he alluded to when he joined me on Panel Discussions a while back). Worth a read just for that!

wow so they planned to retcon their whole own run? I..did not see that one coming

Thanks for the Interview, i think that was the first time that someone actually managed to get something interesting from JMD in an Interview (as far as I have read them).

Editorial note, Russ: the Time Institute was around prior to 1989. The Chronarch, head of the Institute, appeared in BOOSTER GOLD v1 #8, published in 1986. A little more digging reveals that according to the Grand Comics Database and ComicVine, the Time Institute was around as early as 1983 (LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #295).

I'm glad that DC editorial nixed their plan. A hate the hackneyed IT WAS ALL A DREAM trope. But then I do run a website dedicated to chronology, so you could probably already tell that, huh?

Thanks for that follow-up! I'll make sure to get it along to Chuck for inclusion in the final draft of the story!

I personally was a big supporter of the retcon ending...until the last two issues. The jail story was good, but the Legion one I loved. It even fit in perfectly with Time Masters: The Vanishing Point (remember, Brainiac considers Booster a friend in that and allows him to use the lab as needed).

Finally live at Comic Related, after having a speedbump when my editor lost it in the shuffle at the middle of the week (his originaly plan, I think, was to have it hit on Wednesday and be a week late). No different from the one on my blog except that it's clearer to read, features more art and you can "like" it.
