He does indeed know that I shop there and while he doesn't hold them aside for me, he did order one extra copy of TMVP for me during the whole run. I'm really not sure why they failed to do so this month, although they consistently order only 1 copy of BG which I have to run in before 2pm (when they shelve the books) to get. This week I called them at noon to have it held aside and he said they didn't have any.

This same shop alienated me as a customer initially becuase they got exactly ZERO copies (every month, not just on occasion) of Terry Moore's ECHO and of SAVAGE DRAGON, although I've recently started shopping there again because I moved and now live two blocks from it.

Anyway, I drove AN HOUR to find BG because the other two stores in my immediate vicinity sold out on Wednesday while I was too busy to travel, and have now sent the questions off to JMD. Looks like I'll get them back Sunday or Monday which probably (given the slow rate of turnaround at CR right now, with convention season in swing) means that it'll be live Monday evening or Tuesday.

Sounds like it isn't primarily a comic book shop, I hope? Though I have met plenty of comic books shop owners with crazy ideas. I've found that hobbyist stores by their very nature tend to be run without any business sense.

On the up side, I had a hard time getting BG issues during the BLACKEST NIGHT tie in because supply was far outstripped by demand. Maybe that's what is happening here? Reports to tend to indicate that sales are up.

My LCS was also low on BG this month and last. They have been cutting back their ordering on the title for a while it seems. Maybe more people are picking it up in anticpation of Flashpoint?

I have them hold a copy of BG for me each month, which works well. Means I have to always have at least four other titles on hold, but I can live with that. And by now (3+ years into the run) they cut me some slack.

Truth is, with some fairly standard business sales practices, they could get me to buy more comics. But the relationship is pretty much pop in, limited contact, get preordered comics, get out. To be fair, I don't think I fit their primary demo... young kids coming to play multiplayer videogames and 20 somethings looking for rpg gaming experiences. Comics seem to be there to draw in a few old guys and hope they buy something else (lot's of collectables about).

Wonder if anyone at my LCS reads this site? Perhaps I need a nom-de-plume?

Anyway, sorry to hear of your troubles Russ. But I am very glad you got a copy and I look forward to the column as always.

This issue was confusing to say the least and I guess from now on it will be completely futile to make any guesses about Booster's age. For all the failings of this last arc or the team's run on Booster Gold it has at least one upside...I am really looking forward for Dan to return.

I think the de-aging thing is just a response to the fact that they aged the character five years in a few panels last issue, and given that he exists in a shared universe and shouldn't really be aging faster than Superman & Co., that can be dicey. I mean, we all know that he'll be Old Booster sooner or later!

The comic store down the street from me is indeed primarily a comic book store, but a VERY small one, and one that really only orders the big titles. Anything beyond the biggest franchises, he pretty much picks up whatever occurs to him to pick up. I don't have a box there because I'm moving soon and had stopped my pull list so that I don't end up leaving him with a bunch of books.

I would like to petition that the old Booster Gold from the Flashbacks gets (nick)named Booster Old. (Come on, it is not worse than SBooster *g*)

Seconded! We now have a "Sbooster" and a "Booster Old"! Now we can tell them all apart!

Smallville Booster, just like SBeetle is Smallville Jaime. And maybe we even get a STed next Friday.
