Story Notes: The title of this story is a pun on the Leo Tolstoy classic novel, Crime and Punishment, and the story itself shares some of the same themes as that novel.

Booster Gold appears in Rip Hunter's brief flashback to the events of The Adventures of Superman #476. In this story, Hunter is maniacally devoted to the cause that time (and nature itself) is a static but fragile entity that must be protected from unpredictable powerful forces such as Superman. Contrast this with the Rip Hunter seen in 1998's Legends of the DC Universe 80-Page Giant #1, where Hunter himself was an unpredictable force who had just been brought into the Linear Men in time to witness the "Booster Gold Debacle" as it played out. This issue probably says more about the evolution of Rip Hunter than it does about the evolution of power sharing in the DC Universe.

ISSUE REVIEW

Boosterrific Review: This issue is more courtroom drama than super heroic action as it addresses some of the heavier, underlying philosophical issues of the recently concluded "Our Worlds At War" storyline. This issue makes a necessary coda for readers of that major story, but will probably disappoint the uninitiated who pick it up for a quick Superman story.
