ISSUE SUMMARY

Cover Description: From left to right, Martian Manhunter, Superman, and Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) fly above a city, directly into the path of dozens of missiles. (No Booster Gold.)

Brief Synopsis: The Justice League's battle against the Injustice Gang spans across the Earth and into space, where the Doomsday weapon Mageddon lurks.

Costume Worn: MARK X armored power-suit

Issue Notes: The cover date on this issue erroneously says "Feb 1999." Despite the fact that Booster appears to be wearing his Mark X armor in this issue, it is impossible that this issue takes place during the brief period of time when Booster wore the Mark X armor before its destruction.

Story Notes: This issue is part of the "World War Three" storyline. This title will be re-used by writer Grant Morrison and others during the series 52.

Reprints: This issue has been collected in JLA Volume 6: World War III.

ISSUE ANNOTATIONS

Page 18, panel 2
FASHION ALERT: Many of Earths heroes assemble at the newly revealed JLA North America Embassy. Booster Gold and Blue Beetle II are among the many heroes gathered to discuss strategy to deal with the global crisis caused by the attack of the Injustice Gang and the approaching world-destroying Mageddon. Other identifiable DC Universe heroes pictured include Alan Scott (as Sentinel), Aztek, Black Canary II, Connor Hawke, Creeper, Elongated Man, Etrigan the Demon, Firestorm V, Flash I (in multiple locations), Crimson Fox, Guy Gardner (as Warrior), Hawkgirl II, Hourman III, Jemm, Mister Miracle, Oberon, Raven, Ray II, Red Tornado, Reverb, Starfire, Supergirl III, Wonder Girl II, and Zatanna. The threat against Earth is so dangerous, that heroes from Marvel Comics have also joined the assembly, including the Fantastic Four's Thing and Spider-Man. Though Booster is seen from a great distance away, it appears as though he is wearing his Mark X "Flesh-driver" armor which was unintentionally destroyed by Superman in Superman, Vol. 2, #124. This is his only appearance in this issue.

ISSUE REVIEW

Boosterrific Review: This story takes place halfway through the storyline that writer Grant Morrison has been building towards for three years, and one thing is clear: Earth is in trouble. Morrison is delivering a story that is as massive in scope as any mid-summer crossover tale without the irritating crossover titles. Longtime Justice League readers will enjoy this issue, and not only if they have read the stories leading up to it (though they do enhance the issue significantly as there are a lot of very confusing, as yet unexplained things happening).

Boosterrific Rating:

Gold Standard.
